The story of KARIB'DESIGN
The KARIB'DESIGN Gallery is a KARIB'CULTUR workshop.
KARIB'CULTUR has set itself a mission of reappropriating and enhancing this Amerindian heritage, a fundamental component of the syncretic identity of Martinique and more broadly of the Caribbean. This syncretic identity made up of multiple contributions, which merged according to the creolization process well described by Edouard GLISSANT and symbolized in the works of W. LAM.
The reappropriation and enhancement of these different components of the Caribbean cultural and identity heritage are part of a resolutely post-colonial theoretical approach.

Our history
Karib'Cultur was founded in December 2019 after the overhaul of the association "Les soupirs d'art".
From this association was born Karib'Design, an art gallery and workshop of Karib'Cultur, composed of men and women whose objective is to promote creation, with a particular emphasis on the Amerindian past of Martinique. and the Caribbean. It is aimed at all types of audiences.
Offering objects of Amerindian inspiration can promote a better knowledge of its history and help to feel responsible for its heritage.
A reflection on the creation and elaboration of objects in connection with archaeological research is made by the directors.

Transmission des connaissances
Notre héritage à préserver
Notre objectif de promouvoir la culture amérindienne passe par la transmission. Transmettre aux plus jeunes et aux moins jeunes le savoir accumulé par les archéologues, chercheurs, scientifiques qui depuis des décennies fouillent, découvrent, classifient, interprètent, échangent sur ce patrimoine amérindien.
Cette transmission peut se réaliser par des actions pédagogiques avec les plus jeunes, par l'organisation de colloques pour le grand public comme pour les scientifiques qui trouveront un nouvel espace d'échanges, par la ré-édition d'ouvrages consacrés à ces travaux.
